The other one dies. This is one of the more metaphorically resonant times of life for conjoined twins, so of course it has been explored amply in fiction, perhaps never so well as in Mark Slouka’s book GOD’S FOOL.

(Slouka’s kid, incidentally, is a nerdfighter.)
