I love this song. I also love that Hank is using Gumroad. You should buy this on gumroad!

So iTunes and the Kindle store and other online sales companies are always bragging about how much of their money goes to the artist, but in fact an astonishing amount goes to the company given how little value they add to the process. (iTunes and Amazon’s digital services are basically slightly fancied-up credit card processing services.)

Gumroad actually gives almost everything to the artist, and it facilitates a better and closer relationship between people who make stuff and the people who like it, because it does not dictate whether there will be DRM or anything else.

EDIT: Gumroad’s payment structure means that on items costing $1, you make the same amount you would via iTunes. I’m more interested in/enthusiastic about how it can be an alternative to what I see as Apple/Amazon’s value suck on larger ticket items, like albums…and especially books.
